The Special Event Advisory Team (SEAT)

  • Any public event on City of Brampton property needs a SEAT application. SEAT includes City and Regional staff and agencies such as Peel Regional Police, Peel Public Health and the AGCO.
  • The five steps are: secure a location, submit the SEAT application, SEAT review, conditional approval or rejection, and follow-up before the permit is issued.
  • Applications are due 90 days before the event. Late ones may be denied or get extra conditions. Changes to date, time or location need written notice at least 21 days ahead.
  • Invite-only private gatherings, regular recreation programs and rentals, indoor performing arts venues and sports leagues are exempt from SEAT.
  • Insurance is mandatory: at least $5 million Commercial General Liability naming the City as additional insured, with the certificate due at least 14 days before the event.
  • For outdoor public events, an event notification letter goes to the City Clerk, Fire, Building, Peel Public Health and Peel Regional Police. It is due 60 days before for 5,000 or more people a day, and 30 days before for fewer.
  • As of October 2026, the City said that large outdoor events on City-owned property were temporarily limited from May to September 2026 and that it was not accepting inquiries for 2027 events. Check the City’s page for the current status.

Tents, stages and power

  • A tent, or a group of tents, over 60 sq. m needs a building permit. Each tent leg needs a 40 lb weight, and unsecured tents are removed. Stakes generally need City approval and a utility locate.
  • A stage needs a building permit if the platform area is over 60 sq. m and any part is over 3 m high, or for demountable stages with a total platform area over 225 sq. m or any part 5 m or higher.
  • MOJO barriers are required for temporary stagelines of SL100 or larger.
  • Large events with electrical equipment need an ESA permit and inspection. The City says outdoor parks have no power except Gage Park, so plan generators or an approved power setup for sound and lighting.

Sound hours

  • Event sound systems must stay at or below 85 dB. Excessive bass or disturbing noise is not allowed.
  • No amplified sound from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m., before 9 a.m. on Saturdays, or before 12 p.m. on Sundays and holidays.
  • In neighbourhood parks, stages end by 9 p.m. Sunday to Thursday and 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
  • The City lists exemptions for Garden Square, Canada Day, Diwali, New Year’s Eve and long weekends.

Road closures

  • Community events and block parties need a road closure application with a signed petition at least six weeks ahead. Regional roads go through the Region of Peel.
  • Road races, marathons and parades need a letter of intent at least a year ahead.
  • A 4.5 m emergency lane must stay clear on City streets, and Peel Regional Police paid-duty officers are required for closures.

Where events are held

City-listed venues include Garden Square, Chinguacousy Park, Gage Park, Cyril Clark, The Alderlea and Historic Bovaird House. The City does not state which are suitable for staged events, so confirm with Festivals and Events. We list these as public information only; it does not mean we have worked at any of them.

Season and weather

Brampton has no Environment Canada normals station of its own. The nearest with data is Toronto Pearson (1981–2010), which shows average daily temperatures of about 13.1 °C in May, 18.6 °C in June, 21.5 °C in July and 16.2 °C in September. June to August are the warmest months and also the wettest, with about 72 to 78 mm of precipitation per month, so rain is a planning risk through the main outdoor season.

Festivals in the calendar

City-sponsored festivals listed for 2026 include the Rotary Rib’n’Roll in May, Carabram in July, Vibrant Brampton in July, the Heritage Sounds Music Festival in August and World of Jazz in September. Other City events include Canada Day, Diwali Mela and the Winter Lights Festival.
